Host of "Deborah Norville Tonight"

Two time EMMY award winner, Deborah Norville is Anchor of the long running syndicated television newsmagazine INSIDE EDITION and more recently, host of MSNBC’s Deborah Norville TONIGHT weeknights at 9pm Eastern on cable. Joining MSNBC marks a return to NBC in more ways than one for Ms. Norville. Her interview show, Deborah Norville TONIGHT is telecast from the same studio in which she began her career at NBC.

Ms. Norville’s journalism career has found her covering a wide range of topics, from interviewing heads of state and royalty to covering such on-going stories as the Missing and Murdered Children’s Crisis in Atlanta and the Chicago Tylenol murders. While at Inside Edition, she gained national recognition for her ground breaking reports from the Davidson County Jail, where living as an inmate she shed light on conditions inside correctional institutions.

Ms. Norville began her broadcasting career at WAGA-TV in Atlanta, while still a student at the University of Georgia. After graduation, she was named weekend anchor for the station until her departure for WMAQ-TV in Chicago. She later joined NBC as anchor of News at Sunrise and became news anchor and then co-host of NBC’s Today Show. After leaving NBC, Norville hosted the Deborah Norville Radio program on ABC’s Talk Radio network and later joined CBS News as a reporter and anchor.

During her career, Norville has been given numerous recognitions for her journalistic achievement and her philanthropic contributions. Along with two national EMMYs, she received a local EMMY, a Silver Plaque from the Chicago Film Festival, a Gracie Award from American Women in Radio and Television and has been named Best in the Business by Washington Journalism Review. She also received the Person of the Year award from the Alzheimer’s Association’s Rita Hayworth Gala and was national celebrity spokesperson for the Mother’s March of Dimes.

An author and lecturer, Norville’s titles include Back on Track: How To Straighten Out Your Life When It Throws You A Curve (1997) Simon and Schuster, I Don’t Want To Sleep Tonight (1999) Golden Books and I Can Fly (2001) Golden Books.

A former girl scout, Norville has been a member of the Board of Directors for the Greater New York Council of Girl Scouts since 1989. She is a member of the Steering Committee for the Alzheimer’s Association’s Rita Hayworth Gala, and is a member of the Board of Directors for the Broadcaster’s Foundation. Married to Karl Wellner, she is the mother of three and resides in New York City.
